Teeth

Nothing grosses me out more then mayo, grinding teeth, the smell of spit up formula, green snot pouring out of a nose and being licked, and loose teeth.  When kids have a loose tooth and just sit there and wiggly it...all day..long.  When I taught 1st grade, if you have a loose tooth, I kindly asked the students to not EVER wiggle their teeth in front of me...ever!  And of course, guess who had two loose teeth this month?!  Jack!  His bottom front teeth were loose at the same time!  I totally thought I could handle the loose teeth thing with our kids, I've cleaned up their spit up (ew, but not horrible, maybe because it wasn't formula spit up?), throw up, pee, poop, diarrhea, snot (and yes, we have lickers of the snot in our group), thrown food, dirt, sand, grass out of various parts, but I got a bit queasy with his two teeth!  Especially when one bent backwards while brushing his teeth the other night.  I have goose bumps, it 's so gross.

The fun part, of course, is the teeth falling out?  Tooth Fairy?  My vote is Tooth Fairy, especially since that's the fun part!  The first tooth "fell" out with Eric's help, not quite sure how it happened, but there was some yelling from both, and Eric saying, "Just hold still and it won't hurt too bad."  Hmm...The second one came out at lunch at school and everyone in his class was so excited!  So, for the first tooth, he got $10 (extreme, I know, but that's all the Tooth Fairy had in her wallet) and a note from the Tooth Fairy, he LOVED it!  The second tooth received a dollar coin and a dollar bill (Tooth Fairy didn't have much money that night), he was so excited he woke up at 5:30 in the morning and woke me up to show me what he got from the Tooth Fairy.

Right now, no new loose teeth (praise God) and Eric and I have an agreement that this is his thing, the whole loose tooth, loosing teeth, pulling teeth stuff.  We're just beginning this adventure and I love seeing how excited he gets over loosing his teeth!  Molly tells us her teeth are loose too, she so wants to be big!

That bottom right tooth is so gross!

Joy in Life

A few changes have been made around "here," as in the blog, our family, and in my own life.

Blog:

We have a new name!  The Brew Crew's new web address is dailydoseofthebrewcrew.blogspot.com
I was thinking our old name was a little outdated, it did include the town we live in, but I wanted to keep The Brew Crew in our title.  Apparently The Brew Crew is quite popular, but I finally came up with The Daily Dose of The Brew Crew...no promises that there will be a daily dose of us, but that goes along with our next change!

Family:

Truly not much has changed with our family, except the kids are growing, loving life, and finishing up their school years.  Molly has three weeks of school left and Jack has six weeks, crazy!  Will is starting to go potty more and more each day, so we might be climbing on the potty training wagon soon, breath, it will be awesome!  No stress!  We starting to make summer plans and lists about what we MUST do this summer, I'm so excited to have all three kids home everyday.  No, really, I am!  Just to have not set schedules but a nice, simple routine, so peaceful!  Talk to me in mid-July, my tune may be a tad different!

Myself:

This is a big one, at least for me.  A few weeks ago I went to a little one-on-one spiritual counseling retreat through our church that lasted most of a Saturday afternoon.  It was eye-opening, emotional, full of God's love and spiritually moving!  A life changer that's for sure!  I had to write a detailed list of people to forgive throughout my entire life and then pray for the loses I felt resulted from those people.  Deep.  What the two amazing women told me at the end of our session is that I was blessed with a voice that God gave me and now I need to speak up and use that voice to share my beliefs, thoughts, opinions, and not be afraid of what others will think of me because I will be speaking God's words**.  At first I was all, please, I can't do that and where, to who, when?  Now, I'm like, hello, here is the perfect spot!  I'm not going to go all preacher on you, but I may just have a few things to share hence the "Daily Dose" in the blog.  Whoa!

The main thing I want to focus on is my children and still our fun little life, because raising these three has been quite entertaining and they say the cutest things!!  The other focus is trying to find joy, not happiness, in life.  I always said in the past that I want happiness and I want my children to be happy, but that's hard sometimes to find.  But, you can find joy, even on the hardest day, there can be little pockets of joy.  Someone at church recently spoke about losing their child in a tragic death, and she shared that she kept asking for rainbow moments throughout the thunderstorm and she said God ALWAYS gave her a rainbow moment!  Wow!  So, I want to use my voice to help through the thunderstorms and to find the rainbows!  I really hope you come back and will share some of your joys!

Have a great day!

**Side note:  Do not be concerned if you think you were on my list of people to forgive.  I will not be confronting you, writing you a letter, calling you up to yell or expecting an apology.  It is more about forgiveness, praying, and moving on to NOT repeat the cycle in my life towards people I love or encounter.

Bowling, Blue Bonnets and Bunnies!

Easter weekend was full of fun and celebration!

Friday, Jack was off of school!  I love having him home with us!  We spent the morning going to a local church that acted out Holy Week, the kids loved it!  It was a great reminder of the real meaning of Easter!  That afternoon was Jack's birthday party!  He choose bowling with five of his closest friends, brother and sister and a Jayhawk cookie cake!  I thought they would play two games but they barely finished the first game in an hour!  And I promise Will was there, just MIA from the pictures...not sure why!

Wish I could take credit for making this, I hated paying so much for a cookie cake but it tasted so good!
(Sadly I had to bring a Jayhawk magnet with me because they didn't know what a KU or Jayhawks were...darn Texas)

We're so excited to go bowling!

The whole group, they were really into the game!

The only decent picture of the boys

Cookie cake, bowling, all of his friends, what a day!

How can you not love her?
Saturday was spent running errands and then we went to our friends the Leichts for their crawfish's boil...crawfish is amazing, plus beer, good friends, and happy children, a great night!  I made these super yummy lemon bars that I found on Pinterest, and they were super easy to make!

Sunday, Happy Easter!  Our kids woke up early to find eggs hidden and baskets waiting for them!  Husband of the Year did everything because someone (me) drank a little too much beer the night before and he got everything ready for Easter...love him!  And, our kids got very little for Easter mainly because of recent birthdays and as a sweet friend reminded me..."It's not Christmas or their birthdays, they don't need so much junk."  So true!  Pez, construction paper and beads..they were happy!

Pez!  We love Pez!

The kids got some craft projects, these are beads!

Not quite as excited about the Pez here, but his was gone in a day!

Look who got an Easter basket this year!

After our Easter Egg Hunt (eggs full of money and M & M's), we got ready for church and went to a great service!  Then, we came home to grab our camera to take Blue Bonnet pictures!  With a quick stop for lunch at McDonald's (that was super busy for Easter Sunday)and an hour drive to find the Blue Bonnets, we were ready to take some pictures!  Well, someone fell asleep on the ride there and woke up a tad on the grouchy side, and refused to take any decent pictures.  If we had two kids, these pictures would have turned out awesome!

I love it, even with her tongue out!

He's so handsome!

Poor guy...maybe it's because he wore the same shirt two years in a row

She was in Heaven with all the flowers and butterflies!

The only picture of all three kids = FAIL

My favorite...can I photoshop the boys into this one?

My vision of perfect Blue Bonnet pictures didn't include reality, so we'll try again next year and someday I'll get a great picture of all 3 kids!

That night, we ate the traditional ham, cornflake potatoes (that have 2 sticks of butter and so yummy, but I forgot to add the cornflakes, but nobody noticed), and green bean casserole!  So good!  Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend, it's such a happy day!

Happy (Belated) 6th Birthday Jack!

Two Thursdays ago, Jack turned 6 and he had such a wonderful day!  Actually, the day before he came home with not one but TWO loose teeth (more about that later) and one adult tooth growing in all ready!  His actual birthday, he woke up to streamers all over the house and in his door, and of course, opening presents before school!

He had a great day at school, he brought a KU cookie cake (the cake decorator had no idea who KU was or what a Jayhawk was, these Texas people...there's more to life then Aggies and Longhorns!).  He also had a birthday crown and lots of special treats!  At home, he had a ton of phone calls from friends and family, played with his new toys, and we enjoyed grilled ham and cheese, strawberries, and brownies with cookies and ice cream for dessert!

Such a wonderful boy who deserves the best birthday!  For bed time, we read "On the day you were born.."  such a wonderful little story.  My favorite line is the last..."We are so glad you are here."  And we are, Jack!

Happy Birthday Jack!  2 VERY excited children early in the morning!

One not so excited child...don't mess with him until he has his milk

A globe

PEZ!!!  This was the most popular present with all the kids!

Mario Kart pajama pants!

More presents after school...Lego fire station (only a little over 600 pieces)
His own clipboard, with storage for his paper, pens, pencils, markers, and highlighters!  He loves to carry around my clipboard and write, so now he has his own!

Our birthday boy!

His requested cake...brownie and cookie cake!  YUM!
We don't have a picture of his new scooter that sparks when you put on the brakes, it's awesome!  He had a great birthday, thanks for all the love sent his way!

What is wrong with people?

Eric freaked me out the other day telling me about people taking pictures off of blogs and using those pictures for them self, as in, these are my kids, my family, my wife!  WTH people!?!!  If you are one of THOSE people, please leave this blog immediately and DON'T use my kids pictures for your own life!  He also told me sometimes people use pictures for ID's and passport photo's..really?  He is known to over exaggerate and normally I roll my eyes at him and just post away, but this one really got me thinking!  If you're stealing our pictures for your own use...let me help you find the perfect picture of us!  Good luck wanting to claim these people as your own like I proudly do!

Not sure about what is going on here...

A very typical picture of the 3

Just another dinner

Someone give that kid a haircut!

Pretty typical and I look really mad here, but I'm not, most likely annoyed  that Eric's taking our picture!

Wow!

He was a little annoyed at getting his picture taken

Wow!  The extremes of Molly!

I looked stoned and he looks confused

He might divorce me for this, but there are a lot worse pictures of him, so he should thank me!
Now, stop taking our pictures and get a life!

Finally!

I saw the Hunger Games last night, amazing and stayed true to most of the book!  Good job Hollywood!  I was truly and pleasantly surprised!

Since January, I've been reading this book......
and yes, it has taken me almost 3 months to finish!  I had the book checked out from the library and for three weeks I read my little heart out!  There are so many details, people, and events to remember, and at over 800 pages, I didn't finish by the return date at the library.  So bummed!  And to renew was a 10 person wait, I finally caved and bought the book.  Shocking!  I finally finished last week and it was such a great book and trilogy!  My only advice, when a character is introduced, write down on an index card their name and role, because that is the one and only introduction of that character.  And, he only uses last names after the one introduction.  So. Confusing.  But so good, I promise!  I loved the suspense and drama, plus Lisbeth Salander is one tough cookie!

Now...any good books to read?  I need a new one!
